Who are the 8 Chiranjeevi ?

Who are the 8 Chiranjeevi ? Chiranjivi is term which refers to beings who are alive on earth and will live through the Kali Yuga. They are supposed to help Kalki- the last Avatar of Vishnu, which will take Kal Yug back to Sat Yug. The 8 Chiranjivis: 1) Vyasa , the sage who composed the Mahabharata. He represents erudition and wisdom. He was the son of sage Parashara and his intimate partner Satyawati, a fisherwoman and great-grandson of the sage Vashishtha. He was born towards the end of Treta Yuga, lived to see the complete Dvapara Yuga, and saw the initial phase of Kali Yuga 2) Lord Hanuman , devotee of Lord Vishnu who served Lord Rama throughout his life. His courage and strength is known to everyone, so there is no need to explain his story. According to me he will be the right hand of Kalki during shifting of Kalyug to Sat Yug. 3) Parashurama , the sixth avatar of Vishnu. He is knowledgeable of all astras, sastras and divine weapons. Divisions of Cosmic Time

Vedic and Puranic texts describe units of Kala measurements, from Paramaแน‡u (about 17 microseconds) to Maha-Manvantara (311.04 trillion years). According to these texts, the creation and destruction of the universe is a cyclic process, which repeats itself forever. Each cycle starts with the birth and expansion (lifetime) of the Universe equaling 311.04 trillion years, followed by its complete annihilation (which also prevails for the same duration). This is currently 51st year of Brahma, and this is the "year" when the solar system was created according to Hindu astrology, and is the first mahayuga for humanity. Who are the Saptarishis?

Saptarishi are the seven greatest sages of the Vedic realm. They have attained a semi-immortal status, that of an exceedingly long lifespan due to their yogic power and by the power of their penance. The seven holy sages were assigned to be present through the four great ages, to guide the human race. These seven sages or Sapta Rishis worked closely with Lord Shiva to maintain the balance on Earth. They are the seven mind-born sons of Lord Brahma who live for a period of time known as a manvantara (306,720,000 Earth Years). During this period of time, they serve as representatives of Brahma and at the end of a manvantara, the universe gets destroyed and Saptarishi merge in God and the task of filling the Earth is given to newly appointed Saptarishi. The names of the current Saptarshis are: Kashyapa, Atri, Vasistha, Vishvamitra, Gautama Maharishi, Jamadagni and Bharadvaja. The Saptarishis keep changing for every Manvantara.
